The world changed for Hamburg-based DJ Melody Nelson in 1991 when on a pub crawl stumbling into Glasgow’s Volcano Club (later of Trainspotting fame): a dancefloor crowd going berserk to Jazz – shocking!
Back home with bags full of records and copies of Straight No Chaser magazine, the first regular Jazz-tinged club session got started, eventually leading to a residency at the Washington Bar – a stone’s throw from Hamburg’s Reeperbahn.
Nowadays, Melody Nelson can be caught spinning at the Mojo Club Jazz Cafe, Beachclub Anleger, the yearly Elbjazz festival at the port of Hamburg as well as various clubs and festivals across Europe.
